Chapter 01

What does a league night look like?

Every division is a set of teams that meet at one host room on one night a week. A roster carries up to 8 players, each scheduled match is 5 sets, and a division runs anywhere from 4 to 16 teams. The game depends on the room: 8-ball at Street Lights Billiards Academy in Annandale on Mondays at 6:30pm, 9-ball at On Cue Sports Bar & Grill in Front Royal on Tuesdays at 7:00pm, 10-ball at First Break Sports Lounge in Sterling on Mondays at 7:00pm. Some divisions mix 8-ball and 10-ball, and there are ladies' leagues.

Breakers Sky Lounge in Herndon shows how much one room can hold. Monday is 8B/10B mixed, Tuesday is 8-ball, Wednesday is 9-ball at 6:30pm, Thursday is 8-ball and 10-ball, and a monthly ladies' league plays there on Sunday at 1:00pm. The Divisions page lists every night, venue, town and start time, so you can find the room closest to you.

Matches run the Short-Race format, with race lengths set through the USAPL Race-To-Calculator. When do the sessions run, and when is everyone off?

There are three sessions a year. Winter runs 16 weeks, from mid-December to early April. Summer runs 15 weeks, from early April to mid or late July. Fall runs 15 weeks, from late July to late October. Summer and Fall points are prorated to 16 weeks, so a 15-week session sits on the same scale as Winter.

Team playoffs follow the Fall session, from November to early December, and the team playoff fee is one week of dues, a flat $65. There is no play on Thanksgiving Day or the weekend after it, and the league makes an effort to stay off the schedule from Christmas Eve through New Year's Day.

Chapter 03

How do the $65 weekly fee and the points sheet work?

The standard weekly team fee is $65 per scheduled match, paid in cash or digitally through your Division Rep. USAPL divisions carry no annual membership fee. Exactly $40 of every $65 goes to the Player Prize Fund, so the weekly fee is also how a division builds its Las Vegas money.

Pay on the night and your Division Rep submits it within 24 hours, and the team earns 100 bonus points. A team that falls behind can buy points back at $30 per 100, and that money goes entirely to the division prize fund and the franchise MVP fund.

Forfeits are written into the policy so nobody argues about them at the table. A forfeited set is scored 125-0, or 200-0 in the playoffs. A forfeited full match costs 600 points over 5 sets, or 360 in a 3-set ladies' match.
